Pomfret Small Animal Clinic is accredited by the American Animal Hospital Association, the standard of excellence in veterinary care. AAHA accredited hospitals are extensively examined and inspected every three years to ensure your pets are in great hands.
PSAC has maintained its accreditation since 1989. We are the only AAHA accredited Veterinary Clinic within a 20+ mile radius in the northeast corner of Connecticut.
Who We Are
Dr. Norris received her degree in veterinary medicine from University of Illinois at Champaign-Urbana. She founded and built the Pomfret Small Animal Clinic in 1987. She shares her life with Dobermans, Chesapeake Bay Retrievers, Curly-coated Retrievers, Morgan horses, and a variety of cats, including our notorious clinic Bengals.
Unlike human hospitals, animal hospitals are not required to be accredited. Veterinary hospitals are evaluated on approximately 900 standards of veterinary excellence in order to become accredited. AAHA-accredited hospitals are recognized among the finest in the industry, and are consistently at the forefront of advanced veterinary medicine. Our Standards of Accreditation are continuously reviewed and updated to keep our accredited practices on the cutting edge of veterinary excellence. Our standards address patient care and pain management, surgery, pharmacy, laboratory, exam facilities, medical records, cleanliness, emergency services, dental care, diagnostic imaging, anesthesiology, and continuing education. To maintain accredited status, hospitals undergo comprehensive on-site evaluations every three years.
